Georgian Interior Minister Vakhtang Gomelauri has stated in parliament today that “as an ordinary citizen of the country and the country’s Interior Minister I express my full support
to our friendly Ukrainian people.”
He stated that the situation remains complicated in the country, with civilians being killed amid hostilities.
“The situation in Ukraine is very complicated. Civilians are suffering. Children, women, the elderly are dying, cities are being bombed, unfortunately, the number of casualties is high.
“The international community and world leaders must do everything possible to end this war as soon as possible. The Government of Georgia supports Ukraine politically at all international levels, at the same time, we are sending humanitarian aid,” Gomelauri said.
He stated that the ministry is doing its utmost to ensure safety and order in the country on the background of the war, noting that it is difficult even for world powers to have their borders 100 percent controlled.
However, Gomelauri stated that all relevant state agencies are alert to ensure safety and maximal protection at all border checkpoints and at so-called green borders.
