Nino Dolidze, head of the International Society for Fair Elections and Democracy, on Thursday reaffirmed the organization's stance against registering under the Foreign Transparency Law, branded as a “Russian law” by the NGO, emphasizing their commitment to monitoring Georgia's election environment.
"We are not going to live and register under Russian law. We will continue to do everything in order to observe the election environment, to protect the interest of Georgia and the rights of voters," said Dolidze.Dolidze identified the upcoming elections as a significant challenge, particularly the need for a free and fair election environment, not only for political parties but also for election monitoring organizations. "One of the components of free and fair elections is a free election environment for political parties, but at the same time for election monitoring organizations to observe election processes smoothly," she noted.
She expressed concern about the impact of Russian law on their work, stating, "In these conditions, we have to think about Russian law instead of concentrating on our business. Therefore, it is damaging to the electoral environment among them, but nevertheless, we are not going to live and register under Russian law. We will continue to do everything to monitor the election environment, protect the interest of Georgia and the right of voters."
